For survival, man needs three important things; food, air, and shelter. And while building a shelter, you have to take care of a few things according to Vastu Shastra which is as follows:-
- Bedroom
- Sleeping Direction
- Prayer Room
- Tulsi Plant
- Kitchen
- Well
- Bathroom
The bedroom is the perfect place, where you can relax and take a break from stress. This is the room that helps you to have a peaceful sleep and rejuvenates you for the next day. Almost 1/3rd of your life goes in sleeping, and if the bedroom is constructed as per Vastu Shastra principles, they will take care of this 1/3 of life. The perfect location to have the bedroom is in South-West or South. This is also valid for the master bedroom, which can be in South or South-West. The entrance must be located in the North or East, but not in South-West.
The head is supposed to be in South and the legs towards the northern direction for a calm and peaceful sleep. You should never sleep with your head in the North direction as it might cause ill health, bad dreams, and insomnia. Sleeping with your head towards the East direction is a quite effective quadrant, specifically for students since this is the place where all the positive energy is stored. Students, when they wake up early in the morning, can turn towards the right side and get the energy of the Sun. In this way, they can begin their day with positive energy.
The most important place in the house after the bedroom is the prayer room. Here when you keep the pictures of deities it must be on the eastern side only. Photos of the deceased person should not be kept with the deities but on the outside of the altar. Ensure not to build your prayer room under the staircase, it is not considered auspicious.
Every conventional house recommends planting of Tulsi, medicinal plants or herbs, or flowers to perform pooja. These plants with their fragrance as well as healing power add positive energies to the ambience. According to Vastu, it is said to be auspicious to have a Tulsi plant in front of your house. It prevents your house from negative influences. The Tulsi plant must be kept in front of the house (not directly) to the main entrance. The ideal place is in the east.
The kitchen, as per the Vastu Shastra, must ideally be designed in the North-Eastern part of the house. The ruling planet of the kitchen is Venus as fire is believed to be the ruling factor. The kitchen should not be made above the pooja room, bedroom or toilet. It should be situated in the North-East part of the building.
Vastu Shastra says when you create a new house the foremost thing to do is dig a well. If the water from this well is utilized for construction, it is believed to be auspicious for the people living in that house. A well should be round in construction as well as it must be exposed to sunlight. It is unwise if a well is shared among two properties. It is advised that the water source or well should be situated on the North or North-East side of the property.
A living place that is Vastu acquiescent provides inmates with a stress-free, peaceful, as well as progressive life. Many a times, we have seen that bathrooms are constructed anywhere in the house, which tends to emit negative energy in the house. According to Vastu principles, a bathroom has to be built in a particular location. Perfectly, the eastern part of the house is the best area to have a bathroom. The toilet should be constructed on the north-west or west part of the building.
